Alaric is a former spy and mercenary who has fallen from grace. Once employed by the Frankish crown to conduct covert operations in Iberia, he was eventually disavowed and abandoned by his handler. Now operating as a bandit leader, Alaric possesses dangerous knowledge about multiple parties and their secrets.

Former Life as a Spy

• Worked for the Frankish Spymaster (codename "Raven")
• Received mission to assassinate a mysterious target known only as "G"
• "G" traveled under merchant disguise with merchant-disguised guards
• Mission timing: travels by the light of the first quarter moon
• Contact in Iberia identified by "the mark of the falcon"

The Disavowal

Alaric received three letters from his handler:

1. First Letter: Mission briefing to kill "G"
2. Second Letter: Concerned about lack of contact, warned of contingency plans
3. Final Letter: "Effective immediately, you are disavowed. All ties between you and the crown have been severed. Cease all actions and disappear."

Abandonment of Mission

For unknown reasons, Alaric abandoned his contract to assassinate "G" before completion. This may have contributed to his disavowal by the crown.
