A bustling port city two days' walk north of Ashkelon along the Coastal Road. Jaffa is known for its deep natural harbor and as a major trading hub connecting the coastal route with inland paths to the hill country.
Larger and more prosperous than Ashkelon, Jaffa's excellent harbor makes it a favorite among sea traders. The city has a mixed population of Philistines, Canaanites, and an increasing number of Greek merchants establishing permanent warehouses. The smell of cedar wood often fills the harbor district, as timber from the north is processed here before being shipped to Egypt.
Jaffa is a major junction point where coastal trade meets inland routes. Merchants here deal in timber, textiles, wine, oil, and manufactured goods from across the Mediterranean.
