Tarras

Tarras

Tarras is a world within Verden where magic and divinity are inseparably intertwined. It is characterized by a complex divine history and a structured magical system based on the Elders and their domains.

Divine Order

Tarras has experienced dramatic shifts in its divine hierarchy:

The Old Gods

The ancient deities who originally ruled Tarras were powerful entities connected to the primal forces of Verden. These gods were betrayed during The Usurpation of the Old Gods, a cosmic event that reshaped the divine order of Tarras.

The Akkosian Pantheon

Led by Akkos, these upstart gods orchestrated the betrayal of the Old Gods and took their place in the divine hierarchy. The Akkosian Pantheon ruled for twelve centuries after the Usurpation.

The Beleaguered Gods

After twelve centuries, some of the Old Gods survived and returned to Tarras, now known as The Beleaguered Gods. Their return has created tension and conflict in the divine order.

Magic System

Magic on Tarras operates under unique principles outlined in Divinity and Magic on Tarras:

  • Magic and faith are one: There is no separation between divine and arcane power
  • All magic flows from the gods
  • All gods derive their power from faith and worship
  • The magic system is structured around The Twenty Domains, a 5×4 matrix based on the five Elders and four Spheres of influence
  • Each of the twenty domains is presided over by a single god

The Elders

The Elders are cosmic entities representing primal forces that underpin magic on Tarras:

Cosmology

Tarras exists as part of the greater cosmos of Verden, influenced by the primal forces represented by the Elders.
